“God can deliver you from all your problems,” I told the troubled young man. His life was crumbling from a continued pattern of poor, selfish choices. “But he’s not likely to do it while you are sitting on the fence. He wants you all in.” God doesn’t want to be the one who’s only called upon when help is needed. God wants a relationship. That’s why he created humans.

That relationship with God is reciprocal. He seeks us, but he also wants us to seek him. He wants to rejoice with us and help us through tough times. He wants our happiness and our messes. He wants us all in. That’s what this week’s verse is about:

The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.” Lamentations 3:25
