Many months ago, the Spirit impressed on me the importance of memorizing scripture. I’ve been a believer for as long as I can remember (40+ years) and never placed value on this practice. I hid behind the notion that I’m a big picture learner and specifics are harder for me than concepts. The excuse sounds a little lame to me now. All beneficial things require effort!

I started posting my weekly verse on my Facebook page, so people could join in. One friend commented that it was always hard finding verses to memorize, and she decided to join me each week. It helped motivate her to get going. Maybe it will help some of you out there the same way. So I’ll post my verse here as well.

Election time is coming, and we are seeing more and more arguing and strife spewed online. For the next four weeks, we’ll be memorizing a passage from Philippians 2 that outlines how a believer should behave toward others.

“Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.” Phil 2:2
